“It’s self-explanatory” — Flavio Trevisan.
Right to Left once again displays Italy-born, Toronto-based visual artist Flavio Trevisan’s characteristic affinity for clean-cut graphic design and print animation. Digitally-printed in black-and-white, it reads as a flip book, with a straight black line the vertical length of the page crossing from the right edge of the spread to its far left. A simple enough concept, Right to Left is effectively executed and has its surprises: for example, halfway through, the line seems to disappear, until one realizes that it is actually crossing between pages across the spine of the book. Right to Left operates as a sort of half-companion to Trevisan’s TRANSITION series, especially to TRANSITION: Vertical Wipe_.
