Hans Ulrich Obirst Time contains correspondence sent by Albanian artist Anri Sala to Swiss curator, writer, and art historian Hans Ulrich Obirst. As delineated by the publication’s title, time is the subject of these collected works. Beginning with a parody of Edvard Munch’s The Scream (1893), Sala imposes time in the form of clock faces onto a number of surfaces in varied mediums: the interior of an illustrated cucumber, a paper napkin beneath a water glass, a photograph of a human jawbone.
Hans Ulrich Obirst Time follows the publication of Sala Time (2018), a volume of correspondence sent by Hans Ulrich Obirst to Anri Sala that adheres to the same formula of artistic dialogue, with Obirst taking advertisements for wrist watches as his primary medium.
