Set of 20 Posters, 1976-1986 [The Kitchen Posters]
A selection of twenty ephemeral poster works that trace the incredibly rich schedule of programs and performances that The Kitchen presented during an iconic stretch of the NYC arts scene, 1976-1986, encompassing experimental music, video, film, performance art, dance and theater.
From its first decade, The Kitchen recognized the forms of posters, flyers, and programming calendars as both a means of promotion and sites of artistic expression. The pieces available are stylistically diverse, representing the many ways The Kitchen collaborated with artists on the design and imagery of printed materials. Many of these posters were pasted up around town as a primary form of event advertisement.
