Tofte Journal is a book of notes and drawings by artist Joe Zucker. Tofte Journal is a collection of hand drawn maps, personal notes, and sketches from Joe Zucker’s time in Tofte, an unincorporated community in Cook County, Minnesota on the North shore of Lake Superior. The drawings and notes take on a humorous tone, taking record of both bears and painters in equal fashion.
Joe Zucker (b.1941) is an internationally acclaimed artist who studied at the School of the Art Institute, Chicago. His work is best known for his unconventional use of materials such as cotton and plastic and is held in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art, the Carnegie Museum of Art, and the Walker Art Center, among others. Tofte Journal was edited and published by Nolan / Eckman Gallery in 1994.
