Rick Myers is originally from Manchester, England, and lives and works in Easthampton, MA. Myers’ focus as an artist working in the medium of books includes both affordable xerox booklets and portfolio sets. His work is often themed around process and his printed publications frequently serve to record various controlled performances or ‘studio actions’

His work ‘Looking at the sun with a prepared lens + Obstructed drawing’ is housed in a dossier folder, and consists of six 9 × 12” digital C-prints and an original pencil drawing. The work is the result of two ’obstructions’—one of sunlight as it is obscured by a smoked optical lens and the second caused by the lens itself as it impedes the pencil movement of a second hand. In his book “Untitled Document + Residue” Myers documents the making and subsequent degeneration of a large scale print made using black ash sprinkled over his body.
