Ojo is a sound collective formed by artists Eamon Ore-Giron, Justin Cole, Joshua Aster, Moises Medina, Chris Avitabile and Brenna Youngblood. The music was recorded live at La><art in Los Angeles, CA on May 5, 2007 at a performance utilizing improv and contributory communal sounds and sensibilities from the audience like laughing, clapping, shouting and chanting. The recorded performance has the feel of existing as a threshold balanced between its components, like pure energy.
The album features some Xeroxed notes and photos and a full color poster depicting ruptured landscapes, a theme present in the music. Nature is perceived as a substance that can fracture. Pedal effects fracture guitar sounds, audience members tear grass apart with their shoes. “Nature” is situational when an audience and an environment inform the performance, maybe even a concept we have created. The album also comes with two remixes of the project by Los Cremators and Collapsible Mammals.
