“In the illusory city, the imagination of reality exists in old dreams. The streets are like pages filled with writing, roaming around, I am leafing through everything the city wants to tell me. The origins of those thoughts come from my deepest dreams about the city. From dawn to dusk, I thought I understood her entirely, only to realize I had been chasing her shadow. What we call ‘reality’ is merely a projection, just like I can’t find the most authentic flavor which only presences elsewhere.”
All the photos in this “candy” book were taken by Yulin Gu in New York’s Chinatown. The colorful candy wrappers, the semi-transparent images—elsewhere between reality and illusion—have the flavor of nostalgia searching in the dream.
-Publisher
