Dirt & Other Works catalogs a selection of pieces made by Les Coleman over a span of 40 years. Coleman is known for his experimental and varied artistic practices, and his contribution to the dialogue of performative, conceptual and site-specific art in the past half-century. His varied and expansive body of work includes ephemeral installations, cheaply produced pamphlets, photography and sculpture. The individual works share a common curiosity in the immaterial, and also in their sense of humor. The connecting threads between the works, many of which no longer exist, become more immediately visible in their contiguous presentation in this volume.
“His use of transient materials leads to an instability and fragility, and may remind us of our own precariousness.” - from the publisher.
