New Body
New Body is a collection of critical and creative responses to “Social Objects,” the powerful 2018 group exhibition curated by Emilia Shaffer-Del Valle at CTRL+SHFT Collective in Oakland, CA. The exhibition examined communication as both practice and medium—addressing, among other themes, familial connection, alternative immigration dialogues, and the relationships between queerness and labor—and focused particularly on artists identifying as FQTPOC. Composed of individual responses to each of the artists in the exhibition, New Body is an expansion of these conversations and an extension of that communicative sociality beyond the confines of the gallery.
