“In 2018, Yuchen encountered a book titled The Book of Looms by Eric Broudy, which combed through the historical development of weaving looms across geographical locales and cultures such as Egyptian tombs, a ninth century Viking ship in Norway, the Gobelin workshop of Paris and the silk-producing izaribata of China. Yuchen was deeply fascinated by the purposefulness of these loom designs, especially the earlier ones, some as simplistic as a person and a tree, yet already encompassed the profound logic of warp and weft. According to the photos and the descriptions of that book, Yuchen made 20 loom drawings as note-taking. Four years later, Yuchen found a way to restage the choreography and logic of weaving in book form.” - Publisher
