LOS PROFESORES poem by Chilean writer Nicanor Parra with cover by the author. The poem consists of ten parts, and a total of 158 lines. It is largely viewed as a criticism of the educational system. Its frenetic rhythm, present in previous Parra antipoems, is sustained by the arrangement of the verses, which assume the role of the student who has to memorize everything.

Nicanor Segundo Parra Sandoval was a Chilean poet and physicist. He is considered one of the most influential Chilean poets of the Spanish language in the 20th century, and often compared with Pablo Neruda. Parra described himself as an “anti-poet,” due to his distaste for standard poetic pomp and function; after recitations he would often exclaim “Me retracto de todo lo dicho” (“I take back everything I said”).
