In the midst of Hong Kong’s persistent redevelopment, Thank you, next offers a fresh perspective on the built and natural environment. Presented in a building slated for demolition at last year’s end, this project took the form of a series of articles, photographs, conversations, and installations that examine the city’s modern architectural language and atmospheric conditions. Through a visual atlas of urban forms and geometries, materiality, and historical narratives, ‘Thank you, next’ presents an alternative frame of reference for understanding Hong Kong’s ongoing transformation.
This book concludes the Thank you, next project, providing a comprehensive documentation of last year’s exhibition in Jordan, a transcript of the panel discussion featuring Leelee Chan, Dr. Cecilia L. Chu, Charlotte Lafont-Hugo and Charles Lai, and a conversation with Ko Sin Tung. By delving into the materiality, meanings of heritage, urban forms and geometries, personal and historical narratives, ‘Thank you, next’ offers an archaeological exploration of Hong Kong’s space production and landscape ecology. As the city continues to grow, ‘Thank you, next’ provides a vital contribution to the ongoing dialogue surrounding Hong Kong’s past, present, and future.
