Research project by Recreo Art Books in collaboration with Sara Arroyo (Tambourine). In The Social Life of the Book, we seek to answer a series of questions that allow us to decipher the structure of book distribution in the context of independent publishing. Through the testimony of publishers, bookstores, fairs, collectors, libraries, projects, and hybrid profiles, a journey is generated through the different spaces that books inhabit once they have been published, as well as the different dynamics to which they are subject.
With contributions from Bret Bloom and Marc Fisher (Half Letter Press), Eugenia Font (Unloved Books), Francesc Ruiz, Freddie Gaffa (Gaffa), Gabriela Zendoya, Ilan Manouach, Johan Rosenmunthe (One Thousand Books), Jaime Sebastián and Rubén Montesinos (Handshake/Recreo), León Muñoz Santini (Gato Negro), Luis Cerveró (Terranova), Luis Juárez (Feria Migra), Luuk van den Berg (Wolf Books), Margarita Athanasiou (Athens Art Book Fair), Martín Bollati (SED Editorial), Mateo Barbuzzi (Club del Prado), Olivier Duport (Flee), Pascale Obolo (African Art Book Fair), Reynaldo Vásquez Rodríguez, Sara Arroyo (Tambourine), Tommaso Parrillo (Witty Books), Valeria Mata and Vida Rucli (Robida Collective).
