“I am fascinated by plants. Phantom of Plants is the second zine of the plant series, presenting a large collection of plant photos I captured with my mobile phone from 2015 to 2023. I prefer plants not in captivity but rather admire the robust vitality they exhibit when growing freely. They consume the land, sprawl through cities, envelop the entire Earth, existing with a dramatic unrestrained appearance, silently witnessing the beginning and end of human civilization.”
“我迷戀植物,碎夢作為植物系列的第二本書,呈現了大量我在2015-2023年用手機拍攝的植物照片。我不喜歡植物被圈養的溫順,更喜歡它們在自由生長中展現的強大生命力。它們吞噬土地,在城市蔓延,包裹整個地球,以奇異狂放的樣貌存在,不動聲色地目擊人類文明的最初和最終。”
“_ Phantom of Plants / 碎夢_ is part of a selection of books from Squeeze Sour, a distribution project founded by Lin Wang, inspired by one of Lin’s friends who works a delivery job while making photo books in China. Due to censorship and the cultural environment, self-publishing in China has become increasingly challenging, with fewer supporters. Squeeze Sour gathers China-based creators who rarely have the opportunity to express themselves. Our mission is to showcase these books to a wider audience and also to bring some fresh air to the US self-publishing community. Despite the constraints of our mundane world, I believe the tang of the squeezing process yields bittersweet yet rewarding outcomes.” -Squeeze Sour
