This selection of artists’ periodicals maps a connective web of some early (mostly New York) artist-driven publications, often in dialogue with each other and with overlapping collaborators. The selection includes The Fox, co-founded by Charlesworth, Joseph Kosuth and others connected to the NY chapter of Art & Language (Art & Language, active in both the US and the UK, published Art-Language: The Journal of Conceptual Art from 1969–1985). Real Life Magazine was founded and edited by Tom Lawson who showed at Metro Pictures (a leading showcase for the emerging “Pictures Generation” in the early 80s). Charlesworth produced the cover art for the first issue of Bomb Magazine, founded by Betsy Sussler and Liza Béar, who had also both been attached to Colab’s X Magazine. A number of years earlier Béar, along with Willoughby Sharp, had founded the seminal Avalanche Magazine (1970–1976)
