In conjunction with Raven Chacon’s first major institutional solo exhibition, A Worm’s Eye View from a Bird’s Beak, you can browse a curated selection of artist’s books featuring work by Michael Nardone, Rosaire Appel, Elena Biserna, and other artists working with symbolic scores that delve into abstract decolonial narratives, archival collage, and playful sonic graphics. A Worm’s Eye View from a Bird’s Beak, now on view through April 14th, highlights the multidisciplinary depth of Chacon’s prolific practice of the past 25 years. Between past, present and future, silence and noise, violence and resilience, Chacon’s work proposes new as well as ancient ways of relating through which alternative politics may be glimpsed. * With writing and artworks from the 1970s to 2023, current Swiss Institute exhibiting artist Lorenzo Longhi brings together a strong conversation of artists that speak to the very culturual phenomenas present in her current solo-exhibition, World of Yum Yum. In Longhi’s selection of books, American consciousness, cultural production and the mainstream are raised from artists like David Robbins, John Giorno, Pati Hill, duo Johannah Herr and Carah Marsh Sheffler, and Rosemary and Bernadette Mayer. Just as Longhi’s own work comments on American culture but also speaks to the consumption of culture, she’s chosen other artists like Milano Chow, Joana Toro, Julia Justo and duo Tim Devin and Pat Falco whose work comments on on the working class, resistance and survival in migration within the lens of Times Square, and the forgotten history of early 20th century Italian mutual aid societies.
