Following the success of Dictator Banknotes (2020) and Dictator Postage Stamps (2021), Mott completes his running trilogy with Dictator Coins. This large volume presents real coins minted under notorious dictators through history, from the 4th Century Roman Empire into the 21st Century.

Mott’s publication offers a visceral encounter with the past. The coins’ etched metal portraits provide a window into the delicate dance between art, politics and supremacy. Dictator Coins traces a journey through the corridors of power, where coins bearing the weight of empires serve as silent witness to the rise and fall of infamous regimes.

Designed as an album, with high-quality card stock, the publication contains seven genuine dictator coins with accompanying text for each dictator, featuring Constantius II, Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi, Daniel Toroitich arap Moi, Vladimir Lenin, Francisco Franco, Chiang Kai-Shek, and Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.
