Join us for the launch of Seaton Street Press’ first edition of Diana Guerra’s artist book, Fleeting Under Light at Printed Matter / St Marks. Guerra’s risograph publication invokes the relationship between crossing borders and transformational processes that move beyond one’s identity, involving new understandings of family and homelands.
Guerra’s material approach to photography utilizes anthotypes made from corn, beet, and cabbage to depict ephemeral images within the Latine diaspora. Her work focuses on the complex duality formed in the identities of Latine immigrants living in New York City, exploring notions of family archives, home, and a sense of belonging. The launch and signing will celebrate the artist’s work, providing space for informal discussion and presentation of Guerra’s book.
Diana Guerra is a Peruvian American lens-based artist and educator based in New York. Her work revolves around themes of memory, belonging, and identity (re)construction from the perspective of a woman of color within the Latine diaspora in New York City. Guerra is a 2024 AIM Bronx Museum Fellow and 2022 En Foco Photography Fellow. Her work has been featured at the Museum of the City of New York, Photoville, Mana Contemporary, and the School of Visual Arts, among others.
