This week, Printed Matter is thrilled to return to Hong Kong to participate in Tai Kwun Contemporary’s BOOKED: Hong Kong Art Book Fair from Friday, August 30 to Sunday, September 1. In this sixth iteration, the Fair will feature over 110 international artists, publishers, organizations, and booksellers, as well as a wide range of talks, workshops, and performances.

Printed Matter will present a broad selection of artists’ books, prints, and ephemera from our NYC stores.

In conjunction with BOOKED, Tai Kwun Contemporary will launch a new Artists’ Book Library exhibition titled Code.Xcess, curated by Tai Kwun Contemporary’s Ingrid Pui Yee Chu and Nick Thurston from the University of Leeds. Their multi-disciplinary project—with works by Chia Amisola, Chang Yuchen, Joe Gilmore, Pablo Helguera, Lazarus Chan adorning screens, walls, and windows throughout the library—considers the creative role publishing plays as both a source and medium for artists circumventing established systems of generating, organizing, and circulating knowledge.

Printed Matter will have a special section of our table dedicated to exploring these proposed themes of alternative knowledge systems, manuals, dictionaries, reference volumes, and more. Browse the table for highlights of this collection.
