Manimas is a risograph printed artist book published by Red de Reproducción y Distribución (RRD) in 2019. It is composed of black and white photographs of hand and body movements and gestures, drawn on top of with blue marks. It features work by Maria Bravo Ascencio, Bernardo Bravo Ascencio, Eduardo Bravo Ascencio, Daniel Bravo Ascencio, and Ramiro Chaves. This artist book is about the connection between the hand, body, and mind as a vehicle for communication. Sign language and hand gestures as immediate and infinitely translatable are layered with abstract marks, furthuring the linguistic potential of hands as tools for language beyond the written or spoken word.
