Tropical Porn compiles images, illustrations, film clips, and digital collages that represent a survey of what the publication’s editors define as ‘low porn’. Humor, humility, and a palpable sense of humidity converge through various material platforms to illustrate a multifaceted history and precedent for pornographic imagery tethered to a specific region.
Published through Cain Press in Bogota, Colombia, Tropical Porn is described as such:
“María Isabel Rueda, Beatriz López and we, Caín Press, always knew that even the worst porn could fall even lower. That is why, convinced that art - that subcategory of porn that has so much of coprophagy - could illustrate the veracity of our thesis, we call a group of Colombian and Mexican artists and ask them, with images or texts, to resignify (for low) porn from a decadent tropicality.”
The publication features a red cellophane envelope and accessory postcard.
